Today, we are going to introduce about Japanese greetings.
We show the various situations so please remember and use it!

Greeting is very important things in Japan. When meeting someone for the first time with nicely greeting and smile, first impression will be favorable.

Let’s master the Japanese greetings with us!

①Meet someone for the first time

「初めまして。」Hajimemashite
When you met someone for the first time, you can use this.
This means same as “Nice to meet you. ” in English.

「私の名前は○○です。」Watashi no namae ha ○○ desu
You can tell your name by using this sentence.

「○○から来ました。」○○ kara kimashita
Put in your country before ~kara, you can tell your country.

「どうぞよろしくお願いします。」Douzo yoroshiku onegai simasu
(End of greeting, say this sentence.
You can also use this, when you want to request something.

②Everyday greetings

「おはようございます。」Ohayou gozaimasu
When you meet someone in the morning, you can use this.
It is able to use everyone.

「おはよう。」Ohayou

When you meet your friends, family or junior, use this one.
This one cannot be able to use strengers or senior. It’s impolite expression!

「こんにちは。」konnichiwa

When you meet someone at daytime, use this.

「こんばんは。」konbanwa
When you meet someone at night time, use this.

「さようなら。」sayounara
When you leave from someone, use this.

「おやすみなさい。」oyasuminasai
Before you take a sleep, use this.

③Appreciation

「ありがとうございます。」arigatou gozaimasu
This is a polite expression to say “Thank you”.

「ありがとう。」arigatou

This expression is friendly way of speaking better than before.
When we thank a person, we nomaly bow.

「どういたしまして。」dou itashimashite
「いえ。」ie
「いえいえ。」ie ie
After the appreciation by someone, use these expressions. These means same as a “Your welcome.”

④Apology

「ごめん。」gomen
「ごめんなさい。」gomen nasai
These expressions use in everyday life. Do not use in business situation.

「すみません。」suimasen
This is polite expression.
This one also have different means.
First, when apologize to someone. Second, go talk to someone.
Then also, when you appreciate to someone, you can use this.
“Sumimasen.” is really useful words.

「申し訳ございません。」moushiwake gozaimasen
「申し訳ありません。」moushiwake arimasen

These expressions are more polite than other.

Japanese people bow deeply when they apologize.

 

⑤Before and After meals

「いただきます。」itadakimasu

Before having meals, Japanese people always join the palms in front of chest.
Then say “Itadakimasu”.

「ごちそうさまでした。」gochisou sama deshita

After having meals, say this expressions and join the palms same as before eating meals.

These phrases show your appreciation to lives of any kind foods and the person who have prepared the meals.

⑥Leave the home/Return the home

「いってきます。」ittekimasu
When you leave your home, you be able to use this.

「いってらっしゃい。」itterassyai
It uses to response to ”Ittekimasu”.

「ただいま。」tadaima
It uses to response to ”Ittekimasu”.

「おかえりなさい。」okaeri nasai

Let’s response to ”Tadaima”.

How was it? Some phrases are a little bit long, but keep trying!

Why do you study Japanese?

I thought to study Japanese culture and habit.
Therefore i need to study Japanese.
I have a choice to study English,but i can pronounce Japanese better than English.

And also,Japanese is polite and have culture like a good example.

I want to be like an Japanese.
If i can master Japanese languange, i will be a nice person like Japanese.

Did you have anything that you were worried before come to Japan?

No,i did not have. I knew that Japan is so safe country.

Of course,i have worried about nature disaster (earthquake and tsunami),but i can notice before it happens thanks to alert.

So,i’m not afraid. 


What were you surprised about when you came to Japan?

I have three.
The first, it is train. Cambodia’s train is a little slow.
Public transportation system in Japan are too complicated,and it makes me to be anxious.

The second, it is ”helpmark”.
Disabled people have ”helpmark”.
I think this system is great,and that is so Japanese.

The three, it is to stand in line.
Japanese stand in line at supermarket. If someone cut inl line, other people says to go back to the end of line.
I really surprised.

Do you enjoy the school?

Yes, i do enjoy very much.
I really enjoy taking lessons. And my classmates are all Vietnamese.
My teachers teaching method is interesting.

Which class do you like?

I like vocabulary. I am interested in knowing new vocabulary.
I learned recently ”itatte”. (It means extremely in English. )

Do you do part time job?

I am working in a vegetable company.

What is your Japanese favorite food?

It is Okonomiyaki and Shiroi Koibito.

Which Japanese culture do you like?

I like anime,so iam watching ”My neighbor Totoro”.
I study with Japanese subtitles.

Where is your favorite place in Japan?

It is a park in Kobe. Autumn leaves were beautiful when I had visited there.
Leaves turned orage were so beautiful.

And aliso,I had been to Osaka castle in spring.
I was impreesed by watching pink cherry blossome trees.

What is your least favorite Japanese food?

I am not good at wasabi.
Wasabi is not in Cambodia. When i ate for the first time, i was surprised that i got headache.

What is your future goal?

It is to pass the N1. So,i have to study hard in Howdy Japanese school.
After graduated, i want to study to be a preschool teacher.

I hope to be active as a preschool teacher.

Why do you study Japanese?

When I was a student at high school I had a dream to Japan.
Finally, after I had worked at Japanese company for two years I had a chance to be here.
During my working there I do enjoy made the conversation with Japanese co-workers.
Moreover, I think that Japaneses’ culture is great.
That all reasons that I decided to come to Japan.

Did you have anything that you were worried before come to Japan?

Well, I was afraid of earthquake or natural disasters.

What were you surprised about when you came to Japan?

Because it is a safe place I do not feel any danger.
Honestly, I do surprised with Shinkansen speed is very fast. I want to explore
one day.

Do you enjoy the school?

I do enjoy very much because I often talk with friends and teaching is interesting.
Furthermore, everyone studies hard which make me enjoy the class.

Which class do you like?

I like Kanji class. Even though it a bit difficult but really enjoy.
My favorite Kanji is “ 大学”(It means college). Actually, I had practiced writing it a lot at Cambodia.

Do you do part time job?

Yes, I am working in a vegetable company where I was referred by friend.

 What is your Japanese favorite food?

I love Sushi. I always buy it at supermarket and enjoy eating every week. It is delicious but i still don’t know sushi item.

Which Japanese culture do you like?

I like anime and drama. I watch with English subtitles because it is too difficult to completely understand.

Where is your favorite place in Japan?

It is Osaka castle. When i had visited there,cherry blossomes bloomed.
It was so beautiful.

What is your least favorite Japanese food?

I do not have. I can eat all of them even Natto.
My teacher always bought me the Natto.

What is your future goal?

After graduated, I want to work in Japanese company and live for a long time period. I hope may work with kids.

Cup Noodle Museum

School excursion ~Nisshin Cup Noodle Museum~♪

Today,we went to Nisshin Cup Noodle Museum in Osaka. 🥤

Do you know where instant noodle was born?

In fact,it was born in Osaka,Japan!

Students learned about history of instant noodles which they love.        

They were crazy about making original cup noodles!

Momofuku Andou which invented instant noodles are written in textbook in class.

They could visit to his museum which learned in class.

It was an unforgettable day.😊

Setsubun (Beans Scattering Event)

Today is the day of Setsubun.👹

Setsubun means division of seasons and celebrate for the last day of winter .
And also, it is the day to pray for our good health & happiness. On this day, people scatter beans to drive away evil.

People throw roasted soy beans inside and outside thier houses while “Evils,get out!Happiness, come in!”

This Event has a history of over 1,000 years.

Students looked like they were having fun experiencing Japan’s traditional event.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thank you for everything last year.

2020 is the year of the Olympic Games in Tokyo.

Our school will be 2 years this spring.

We constantly strive to improve.

Today was first class in new year.✨

So,we went to visit a shrine.(Japanese says Hatsumoude)

Students looked so fun because they experience Japanese Osyougatu.

It is good to welcome the new year with a smile.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

LAST CLASS &MERRY CHRISTMAS🎄

Today is the last day of class.

At last, we cleaned up together.

And, Santa came to our school!

Students finished the last class this year with smile because Matsubara Santa gave snacks them .

They experience the first Christmas & New Year in Japan.

We wish for they have a good time.
